9th Grade Timeline
Fall:
Attend freshman orientation and become acclimated to your new school.
Use an organizer or app to stay organized from the beginning as assignments, projects, tests and quizzes will need to be mapped out.
Attend Activity Fair, usually two to three weeks after the start of your school year. Sign up for clubs for a few clubs that are of interest.
Winter:
Use curriculum guide and map out courses for sophomore year.
Meet with school counselor and pick classes for 10th grade.
Keep up with school work.
Get involved with activities outside of the classroom that relate to your natural strengths.
Do well on midterms. Study and attend review sessions.
Follow up with teachers on any missed work or extra help when needed.
Be accountable.
Spring:
Design and create a resume.
Apply for summer jobs.
Create an academic portfolio/folder to organize your best work: essays, awards, projects, artwork, scholarships.
Attend College Fair(s) at your High School or in your local area.
Browse through college websites and literature to become familiar with potential schools of interest.
Volunteer in your community.
Do something you like and that’s meaningful during the summer months leading into your sophomore year.
Continue being accountable for your understanding of content. Attend extra help sessions and let your teachers know you care.
Finish the year strong both in and out of the classroom.
